How To Free Transform in Adobe Photoshop CC 2019

Free Transform in Photoshop CC 2019

➜ Get Photoshop CC 2019:

———————–
Note: This new way of Free Transform is for Raster-Based Graphics (non-vector such as photos). When using Shape Layers, the legacy behavior of holding the Shift Key is required. There are other instances such as using the Crop Tool, where you will also need to hold the Shift Key to scale proportionally.
———————–
Keyboard Shortcut: Cmd + T
Edit Menu…Free Transform

To free transform proportionally, simple drag and scale
Hold the option key to scale from the center

To commit changes:
1. Press Return
2. Press Check Mark in Menu Bar
3. Click anywhere outside

To Skew while in Free Transform: Hold Cmd Key and grab center handle on the top or sides.
To Transform in Perspective: Home Cmd Key and grab corners.

Right/Ctrl + Click for Transform Options (Skew, Warp, Rotate, Flip…)

Bonus Tip for stubborn old dogs…How to turn off new transform and revert to the old way:
************************
To revert to the legacy transform behavior, do the following:
1. Use Notepad (Windows) or a text editor on Mac OS to create a plain text file (.txt).

2. Type the text below in the text file:
TransformProportionalScale 0

3. Save the file as “PSUserConfig.txt” to your Photoshop settings folder:
* Windows: [Installation Drive]:Users[User Name]AppDataRoamingAdobeAdobe Photoshop CC 2019Adobe Photoshop CC 2019 Settings

* macOS: //Users/[User Name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop CC 2019 Settings/

  1. Thank you so much for this, I could NOT figure out what was wrong and actually reverted to using an older install of photoshop, you've saved me!

  2. why did they change the configuration of this? i'm using photoshop in many years for my photography. Sadly, we need to adjust for this

  3. This is what Adobe does… you spend years getting use to the tools which they keep changing regularly even though they worked perfectly fine… I'm not sure if it is to piss you off or keep you on your toes, but when you have a rush job and have to relearn the commands it makes me bloody angry and costs me money…. surprisingly Adobe dimensions has never improved and in fact it has gone backwards yet it was developed over almost 30 years ago and is part of Adobe Illustrator in a more primitive form… ridiculous

  4. What's the point of free transform if you can't freely change the shape? oops!!! Update… Apology….you gotta hold "shift" to free transform.

  5. You helped me a lot to find the pivot (center reference point) Thanks a lot! This idiots from Adobe company are ruining the amazing software Photoshop was… I won't pay them anymore if they continue doing stupid things…

  6. man if only microsoft put photoshop features on ms paint it'll be much fucking better than using this piece of garbage called photohop.

  7. my first time using the CC version after 10 years of CS5.1 and later CS6 . Your hint about the unlocking the transform tool from scaling its not working , maybe its because its the latest version of CC 2019 20.0.6. I can say that i am dissapointed about CC , in CS6 the transformation tool is unlocked and it is not depending on scaling as far as i remember.

  8. found the link to switch back to legacy transform : https://photoshoptrainingchannel.com/photoshop-proportional-scale-transform-checkbox/

  9. Hate it with a vengeance, the most annoying change I've come across in 15 years of using PS. This is also the first time I've felt the need to comment on PS ever, do the people at PS ever use their own product?

  10. This STILL bugs me. It really should have been a preference– at least a preference to return to the old way. Muscle memory after… decades?… really hard to revert. Honestly, it may be fine in the end, but it was a slap in the PS loyalists' faces.

  11. The new update now doesn't require the code: TransformProportionalScale 0. Under General, check the box that says: USE LEGACY FREE TRANSFORM. #ihateyouadobe

  12. the worst 'feature' imaginable. At least coordinate with your other Adobe developer 'buddies' from the other departments with your radical transform property changes guys.

  13. Thanks for breaking the mystery. I was pulling my hairs out when using the new transform tool. Now I know where the changes are!

  14. The PSUserConfig trick doesn't work for me. Adobe has now added the option to the Preferences > General > Use Legacy Free Transform

  15. Hi can u please help me?? When i want to do free transform i cant even move the shape a little bit or horizental it. I get borring Error like value between blah blah! I cant find that anywhere! Its about value for 300000 or 1250% .it make me crazy!
Please help me as soon as u can:#

  16. THIS IS SO BAD!! EVERYONE KEEPS SAYING "GO TO FREE TRANSFORM". I ONLY SEE FREE TRANSFOR PATH AND WHEN I CLICK IT, IT SAYS SOMETHING ABOUT A PATH

  17. I still hate it. Change it back!!! I guess people who use photoshop for what.. photos… they like this change, but we have used PS in game development and digital art for over 20 years and my brain still wants to seize up on the first time i try and transform for the day.

  18. I almost screamed when I saw this stupid change! I still haven't figured out how to scale a selection vertical with an anchor point to eg. left 🙁

  19. A click outside the free transformation area = the enter applies the change without even asking. Return everything back, you broke Photoshop! I’m not even talking about the fact that in one program, shift works differently with raster and vector !!! And other products do not support this idea yet * EVIL *
